Professional Biography

Jason Allen is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas focusing on  trauma counseling, post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), and marriage/family relationships.  He has several professional certifications and has worked with clients in multiple practices  throughout the state of Texas.  As a trained counselor and former member of law enforcement/military, Allen brings a unique  mixture of high-quality professional training and real-life experience to the practice. Extensive  previous experience in high-stress, life-or-death situations has allowed Allen to gain insight into  the trauma and grief that many people have experienced, but few have processed in a healthy  way. Allen is also extensively trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing  (EMDR), a highly effective technique that allows trauma survivors to process repressed events in  a healthy way and move forward in their lives.  Allen received a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from LeTourneau  University, as well as a Master of Arts in Human Counseling degree with a specialization in  Criminal Justice from Liberty University. He uses a Salutagenic approach to treatment along  with psychoeducation, and empirically validated treatment modals to assist client’s in addressing  presiding issues and helping clients achieve their treatment goals. Allen has a passion for helping  his clients break free from mental and emotional struggles that hold them back from building  strong relationships and experiencing a joyful life. In addition to treating other often experienced  conditions Jason specializes in working with first responders, military personnel, veterans, and  their families who are experiencing difficulty due to traumatic experiences. Allen served in the military for more than a decade and was deployed to the Middle East two  times. He returned to the States and worked in the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Department in Las  Cruces, NM for years. During his time as a police officer, Allen noted that many situations he  encountered could have been avoided if those involved had pursued alternative measures such as  therapy and counseling; this included both problems within the home and the aftereffects of  experiencing traumatic events. It was during his service that Allen realized his true calling as a  counselor. He moved beyond protecting the people in his community and began instead to walk  alongside them through the healing process. Allen believes that everyone, regardless of their past  experiences or present turmoil, can find purpose and have a vibrant, full life going forward. Allen’s overarching approach to treatment involves an integrative approach utilizing a variety of  approaches based on the needs of the individual client.
