Allen served in the military for more than a decade and was deployed to the Middle East two times. He returned to the States and worked in the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Department in Las Cruces, NM for years. During his time as a police officer, Allen noted that many situations he encountered could have been avoided if those involved had pursued alternative measures such as therapy and counseling; this included both problems within the home and the aftereffects of experiencing traumatic events. It was during his service that Allen realized his true calling as a counselor. He moved beyond protecting the people in his community and began instead to walk alongside them through the healing process. Allen believes that everyone, regardless of their past experiences or present turmoil, can find purpose and have a vibrant, full life going forward. Allen’s overarching approach to treatment involves an integrative approach utilizing a variety of approaches based on the needs of the individual client.
